Yandang Mountain is located in Leqing, County of Wenzhou City, Zhejiang Province.It is a resort with beatifull sceneries and is one of ten most famous mountains in China.

The name "yandang" comes from the lake of beautiful view on the top of the mountain and where the spreading reed, and the wild geese come and live here in autumn. Yandang Mountain, famous for its peaks, screen-like peaks, caves and waterfalls, is a mountainous natural resort on seaside. With the good reputation of "the famous mountain in the sea", "the emperor of mountains" it was called as "The First Mountain in Southeast China". With abundant and rich culture, it was set afoot in South and North Dynasty, and developed in Tang Dynasty.

Yandang's early reputation owes much to the following three men, or actually three monks in the Tang Dynasty (618-960). One was an Indian monk called Nuojuna, the founder of the first Buddhist temple in the area, who came settled here with his 300 disciples. The second was the well-known Master Yixing, who left behind with a painting of the mountain named "the Landscape And Its Two Borders". And the third was Guan Xiu, a poet-monk whose poem depicting Mt. Yandang is still remembered. I reads: "Strolling along the path of the Yandang Mountain, I felt the peaks crowned with a misty gauze; while drinking tea by the side of the Dragon Waterfall, I myself was imbued in a drizzly cloud." Mt. Yandang came to be widely known during the Song Dynasty (960-1279). Though it's too late to be made famous as those of the Five Mountains in China, but it's her fortune: being better preserved, and absolutely natural.

Yandang Mountain features natural and sometimes bizarre landforms and it is rich in tourism resources. Yandang Mountain has about 450 tourist attractions and nine most appreciated scenic zones. The most famous scenic spots are Lingfeng Peak, Lingyan Rock and Dalongqiu Waterfall. They are named also as the "three perfect scenic spots" in Yandang Mountain.

The main peak of the mountain is called the Yanhu Ridge with a lake atop, on which reeds grow in great variety and profusion. The Mountain is famous for the peaks, rocks, caves and waterfalls, most of them in Great Dragon Pool, Ling Peak and Ling Rock and are considered to be the best scenic spots in the southeast of Yandang Mountain.The unpredictable night visions at Ling Peak are fantastic and worth staying a night to enjoy.

In the area of Yandang Mountain the peaks rise apuptly from the floor and everywhere you can see craggy peaks of over 100 meters high. It 's almost impossible for tourists to climb up a mountain so steep. Instead, if they climb the mountain along the winding (and easier to walk)paths, the tourists can enjoy the most bizarre shaped rocks and craggy peaks!
