The biggest event of any Chinese New Year's Eve is the dinner every family will have. It is reported that more than 1200 students had New Year's Eve dinner together in Xiamen University to celebrate the Chinese Year of Tiger.
 
Every year, Xiamen University prepares New Year's Eve dinner for students who stay at school during the Spring Festival. This practice has gone on for more than twenty years, and this year is not an exception.
 
According to Xiamen University, more than 1200 students, including over 100 foreign students stayed at school during the Chinese New year this year. It is reported that Xiamen University prepared 140 tables of food for these students.
 
"I have never seen such a big new year's party before. In Holland, we just have family party during the new year." said a student from Netherlands.
 
Since 2010 is the Year of Tiger, the university restaurant specially prepared a big tiger cake for students. This is also a traditional activity of Xiamen University. During the first three days of the Spring Festival, students can also enjoy free meals in the university restaurant.
