High school students bring poetry with photography2009-12-10 15:10:00 From: english.cctv.com
What do you get when you fuse a poem with a photograph? High school students from Beijing, Shanghai, and Hong Kong offer an answer as their creations run wild in a new interactive program. The exhibition showcasing the innovation of these young minds will tour around the country after showing in Beijing. In about one year, most of these students will face the first big battle in their young lives, the national college entrance examination. But, they still have space left in their heads to create. And they really have done well. Their works are the winners of "Art Talents Pop Up! Poemography Expo" a cultural exchange program among high schools in Beijing, Shanghai, and Hong Kong. Li Chenghuan, student, said, "This is the first time I really know about poemography.I never think I will write a poem with a photo. My inspiration is I really want to know where my destination is. Maybe it's in this shopping mall. Maybe something behind this shopping mall. Maybe this is a peaceful place I really want to join in." Li Xueyan, student, said, "I've been taking part in this event since this April. Writing a poem is one of my favorite ways to express myself. It's not hard to keep a balance between my hobby and preparation for the national exam. I write whenever I feel the inspiration. My winning piece is called 'Glory'. Actually it's through this contest that I learned what glory is. The key point is not winning a title, but how we see the world and find the beauty of life through our eyes. " By merging the media of visual arts and language, the interactive program encourages teenagers to observe, feel and express in the way they like. The blending of literature and photography falls within the realm of architecture. The program has also invited insiders to help these young minds before they go off on their own. The exhibition runs in Beijing till Sunday before it moves on to Shanghai and Hong Kong. Total:1 Page: 1
