Piao Dongsheng, famous conductor, was born in 1934 in Shenyang, Liaoning province. In 1949, he began to pursue the career of art. Later on, he studies in Lu Xun Academy of Art of Northeast. Piao used to be a conductor of Central Song and Dance Troop (national first rank), the director of China General Publishing House of Records and Videos. He is now responsible for posts such as the dean of China Academy of National Orchestral Music, vice dean of China Association of Records and Videos, etc. During his 50-year career of music, Piao was mainly engaged in the work of conductor in the orchestra of folk music. He used to conduct "Grand Chinese Music" performed by hundreds of people on the inauguration of the 1st Session of Chinese Art Festival. He was also visiting conductor of many orchestras both in and abroad. Meanwhile, he used to conduct in many movies, Tv series and record albums. At the same time of pursuing his profession of conductor, he also concentrating on the composition of folk music and the research of music theories. He successively composed symphonic poem of folk music Tale of Peony Fairy, orchestra of folk music cento of Jiangsu Folk Music, Sketch of Ali Mountain, Chinese trumpet concerto Celebration of Victory, erhu fiddle sole on the prairie, chorus and orchestra Eulogy of China, etc. For years, he published comments and papers on periodicals like People's Music and Music Weekly. He also published monographs of Methods of Conducting Orchestra, Introduction to Conducting, and corpus Endless Affection towards the Hometown and the Music of Dragon. In 1993, Piao was awarded "specialist of outstanding contribution to art" by China Ministry of Culture, and enjoy special government allowance issued by the State Council. Total:1 Page: 1
