Jiang Dawei was born in Tianjin, China in 1947. He liked music and drawing since childhood. In 1968, he went to Hohhot and settled as a member of a production team. And then he entered Forest Police Art Troupe in 1968.
In 1975, he was transferred to Beijing Central National Song and Dance Troupe as a soloist. During this period, he held the posts of the chairman of Central National Song and Dance Troupe, and the chairman of China Light Music Troupe. For many years, he had sung thousands of songs and hundreds of themes of films and TV series. Including "Journey to the West", "Song of the Peony", "Where the Peach Flowers are in Full Blossom." And so on. Those songs are widespread throughout China.
