Wu Bixia, lyric coloratura, comes from Hunan. She was on the stage officially when she was only 12. During her study time at China Conservatory of Music, she took a lot of systematic vocal exercises and learnt many vocal compositions, in addition, she was very talented and hardworking. As a result, she mastered the different methods to sing Chinese folk songs and foreign ones.
Wu Bixia got the silver prize in the vocal competition held by China Musician Association and Ministry of culture of the People's Republic of China. And she recorded her own album in July 1993. Later, she went on to get other prizes, like the first prize in 96' National Vocal Competition, the first prize in the 1st China International Vocal Competition, the first prize in the 8th Bicbao International Vocal Competition, Spain, the second prize in the Moniuszko International Vocal Competition, the second prize in the Tchaikovsky International Music Competition which is considered as the Olympic in the International music world. Her performances proved again the status of Chinese singers in the world according to her angelic voice and smiles. Since 2000, Wu Bixia has held many solo concerts at Beijing, Hunan, Singapore, published lots of albums, and cooperated with famous composers, conductors, and professional opera troupes. Such as, she was invited by International Vocal Committee and Spain National Broadcasting Station to participate Gala Lirica. In December 2001, International Vocal Committee and Spain ARRIAGA Opera invited her to perform the heroine in the opera "Rigoletto". Wu Bixia's every successful performance draws the domestic and overseas attention. CCTV has recorded special coverage for her dozens of times.
