Tang Can, a famous singer, comes from Hunan. She majored in folk vocality in the Wuhan Conservatory of Music. After graduating she entered the China Sing and Dance Troupe as a soloist.

Tang Can got the "Excellent Singer" prize in the 7th National Youth Singer TV Competition. Then in the 5th China Music TV Competition, her song "Dreams Come True" got the silver prize, "Sister of A Fishing Family" got the bronze prize, and "there have been a time" got the excellent prize.

In the summer of 1998, many regions of China suffered from a flood that is very rare in Chinese history. Tang Can took part in the grand evening party "We are having the Same Heart" to give relief to the victims in stricken areas. Despite this, she also took part the Comfort Performances in Hunan, Hubei and Jingaxi. She went to the frontier of the flood to donate money and necessities. Moreover, she shot a moving music video called "the anthem of heroes" at her own expense, using lyrics to express the respect of the people towards the soldiers who fought the flood. This music video gained impressive reflection after it showed on CCTV.

As well as attending the activities held by her own troupe, Tang Can took part some other grand evening parties and charity activities. She went to many poor areas to perform and took part in the benefit performances, donating money and helping the children who were unable to study because they had no money.

In the CCTV New Year theatrical evening parties, famous singer, Huo Feng and Tang sang the very enthusiastic song "A Good Beginning". Later, this song was released as a music video, which became the key song for many TV Stations. In 2000 Spring Festival Evening Party, they sang this song again which was widely praised by the audiences.

To celebrate the 50th Anniversary of the foundation of China, Tang Can sang "Blessing Our Motherland" composed by Meng Qingyun, which was later shot into MTV. This MTV was directed by Zhang Yimou commended her capability and potencies. Tang Can sang this song for many theatrical evening parties.

"Blessing Our Motherland" was considered as the essential song unanimously, and its MTV got the golden prize in the China TV Jinying Festival.

In 2000, Tang Can released a MTV named "Happiness is As Long As Millions of years" which was produced by Fu Ke. After it showed on CCTV, this song was highly praised. This song is used for reference for new singing ways of pop songs to express the sense of fashion and modern of folk songs. Tang Can was so called "the leading role in new folk songs" by the media. Later, Tang Can released another aesthetic song after Happiness is As Long As Millions of Years, named "Hometown is beautiful".

In 2001, Tang Can got the "golden horn" in the 1st Listeners' Favorite Singers held by The State Administration of Radio Film and Television.
