Originated in the Ming Dynasty, Foshan New Year Paintings of Guangdong Province are a popular woodblock New Year painting type in south China. This type of painting includes three categories: original painting, woodblock, and woodblock with realistic painting. Most paintings are dedicated to door gods and the common colors used in the paintings are red, yellow and green, with some works absorbing the local art of bronze backing paper by applying some golden and silver adornment to the helmet and belt, making the god images glistening and adding some vitality to the paintings.
