In order to subsidize Cambodian students to study and do research in Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, to enhance the mutual understanding and friendship between Chinese and Cambodian people, and to promote the exchanges and cooperation in fields of education, science & technology, culture, and economy & trade between the two countries as well, the government of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region sets up a full scholarship program for Cambodian students studying in China. Guangxi University for Nationalities is commissioned to be in charge of the enrollment of students for this scholarship.

Guangxi Government Scholarship Program for Cambodian Students is implemented from 2010.

1. Categories of Applicants and Duration of Scholarship

2. Application Procedures and Timing

Applicants who currently live in Cambodia shall propose their applications to Cultural Office of the Chinese Embassy to Cambodia; Applicants in China shall directly propose their applications to School of International Education of Guangxi University for Nationalities. The application time is from January to April for each year.

3. Eligibility

Basic Qualifications:

1) The applicant must be Cambodian student.

2) The applicant should be a person of good character and has no criminal record.

3) The applicant should be in good health and should not suffer from infectious or other diseases that are not permitted by Chinese quarantine authorities to enter China.

4) The applicant should comply with laws, rules and regulations of the Chinese government.

5) The applicant should respect the customs of Chinese people.

6) The applicant shall be under the age of 30.

Professional Qualifications:

1) Chinese language student should have a high school diploma or shall be a college student in Cambodia.

2) Undergraduate candidates should have a high school diploma and hold an HSK certificate (level 4 or above). The applicant who studies in Guangxi University for Nationalities for Bachelor's degree has the priority to be recommended to further his/her study for Master's degree in this university after graduation. The applicant can also apply for other universities in Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region for his/her study for Master's degree.

3) Master's degree candidate should not only have a graduation certificate of undergraduate study, a Bachelor's degree diploma and an HSK certificate (level 6 or above), but also be recommended by two associate professors or above.

4. Application Materials

The applicants must fill in and provide the following documents truly, correctly and completely.

1) The original script of Application Form for Guangxi Government Scholarship for Cambodian Students (filled in Chinese or English);

2) The notarized highest education certificate and academic transcripts. University students or applicants employed should also provide proof of studying or employment on application. Documents in Cambodian must be attached with notarized translations in Chinese or English;

3) One copy of Foreigner Physical Examination Form;

4) A study or research plan in Chinese or English (not less than 400 words for undergraduate programs, not less than 500 words for Master's degree programs, not less than 200 words for Chinese language students);

5) Applicants for music or art programs are required to submit tapes or photographs of their works.

6) A notarized proof of no criminal record.

5. Selection of Institutions and Specialties

If the applicant for this scholarship does not meet the Chinese Proficiency Test (HSK) 4 standard in the time of applying, he/she must learn the Chinese language for one year in Guangxi University for Nationalities. After having obtaining the certificate of HSK 4, the applicant can apply for undergraduate programs of all universities in Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region; if the applicant meets the Chinese Proficiency Test (HSK) 4 standard, he/she can directly apply for undergraduate programs of all universities in Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region. The applicant for Master's degree must meet the Chinese Proficiency Test (HSK) 6 standard.
