On March 29, 2012, the guests could find they were more occupied with lectures and activities than they thought to be.There were Round Table Education Symposium, Sculpture Lecture, Chinese Culture Exhibition and American Students' Performance. Simultaneously held wereRound Table Education Symposium and a sculpture lecture from a Chinese prestigious artist. At 2:00 pm, Round Table Education Symposium was attended by educators from China and America at Conference Room 122, Hawkins Hall. From Troy University, they were Dr. Ingram, Senior Vice Chancellor, Mrs. Dr. Ingram from Education College, Dr. Jeffery, Vice Chancellor atDothan Campus; from Hebei Province, they were Dr. Yanhuai Xin, President, and Dr. Yang DongFang, Director of Division of International Cooperation and Exchange of Hebei Normal University of Science and Technology, Dr. Wanqing Li, President of Hebei University of Engineering, ProfessorJingyuan Sun, President of Hebei University, Ms. Jun Yang, Vice Principle of New Century Senior High School, Qinhuangdao, Hebei. Also Dr. Hong Xu, Director of CIT, ProfessorXiaofeng Chen, Deputy Director of CIT took part in the symposium. In the symposium, Chinese part introduced their educational systemand collegeentranceexaminationsystem in China and presented problems in Chinese educational system; American part demonstrated their educational features. Both sides discussed the differences between educational modes and analyzed the pro and con of education system in two different cultures. The exchange of educators' views strengthened the understanding of both sides and would definitely benefit the advancement of education in China and America. Nearly meanwhile, at Room 207, Paterson Building, the lecture about sculpture art and technique was given by Artist Mr. Baozhu Huo, Shaanxi Yuan Kun Sculpture Limited Company, China. Mr. Huo first explained how shape, spirit and symbol were combined in a sculpture artwork and how Chinese culture was manifested in the combination, by using his three dimensional artworks Galloping Horse Treading on a Flying Swallow, Liezi riding the wind, Xuanzang Statue and his planar works like Scented fragrance floating around in the air, White doves standing on banana leaves. After that, he demonstrated how he worked to make the imagination about an artwork realized with the support of mechanics, using his artwork, Galloping Horse Treading on a Flying Swallow. Mr. Huo's vivid and plain explanation led the audience to the art world, and made a resonance with everyone's mind. About fifty students and teachers fromCollege of Communication and Fine Arts, as well as guest experts in Alabama-China week attended the lecture. Some students wished they could be interns in Mr. Huo's company. Mr. Huo ardently welcomed everyone who appreciates Chinese bronze culture to his company to visit or to be interns. Finally, Mr. Huo was given a sketch drawing Troy Warrior by the leader of College of Communication and Fine Arts. Right following the symposium and lecture, a Chinese art exhibition was held at the Johnson Arts Center of Troy. In the hall, surround with a lot of paper-cutting works and Chinese calligraphy works, Ms. Jie Xing from CIT demonstrated to the visitors how to do paper-cutting of Chinese character "double happiness", snowflake as well as lovely animals and showed how to use Chinese brush to write calligraphy. Morgan Drinkard, the interim Director welcomed all the visitors; Mr. Jimmy Lunsford, Mayor of Troy, showed his great hope for people from two different cultures to learn from each other. He also prepared every visitor a gift from Troy city. Also Troy singer Sheila Jackson sang a song for entertainment. Visitor wandered in the center to appreciate Western arts and Chinese arts, accompanied was the ardent exchange of their opinions about arts. Presidents, vice presidents as well as directors of universities from Hebei visited the Center, a Vice Chancellor and deans from Troy University also joined the visiting. At evening, invited by Dr. Hawkins, Chancellor of Troy University, nearly all the guests watched a performance named Band Geeks, which was presented by Troy University students. The show describes friendship, relationship of a group of high school students in a band. All the guests were intoxicated by the charm of American art.
