From March 24 to March 27, Professor Perlman, president of St. Cyril and St. Methodius University of Veliko Tarnovo in Bulgaria, and Ms Iskola came to visit CUG (China University of Geosciences).

On the afternoon of March 25, CUG president Wang Yanxin kindly met the group of Perlman; both sides signed the cooperation agreement. According to the agreement, both sides would promote the exchange between the teaching staff and students and the cooperation of joint development and taking the research project of science and technology. Each year both universities could exchange at most two students and two academic researchers. The agreement is valid for five years.

On the afternoon of March 26, about the cooperation of building Confucius Institute, Tang Huiming, vice president of CUG and officers of related departments exchanged with the group of Perlman.

It was known that Wang Yanxin, Tang Huiming would declare with Perlman the third Confucius Institute����the Confucius Institute of St.Cyril and St. Methodius University of Veliko Tarnovo.

St.Cyril and St. Methodius University of Veliko Tarnovo is a world famous university, which has been honored as the "Excellent" higher education institute in Bulgaria. Currently, there are seven departments, forty majors. In 1993, this university officially opened the Chinese major. In 2002, the Center of Chinese Language and Culture was founded. So far, it has more than one hundred graduates, most of them have engaged in Chinese research, teaching and other jobs related with Chinese.
