To help the candidates prepare for the first new YCT test on May 26, Confucius Institute at the University of Zambia started a trainning program on April 16 at the Rhodes Park School.

The opening ceremony began at 9:00 o'clock. Chinese director Ms. He Yi gave a detailed instruction of the syllabus, grade system, requirements, registration consultation, and the time and purpose of the YCT test. She also conducted an interactive communication with teachers and students and made a description of the plan for the future summer camp, Chinese bridge, as well as the delegation of principals. The students expressed their expectation for the test and China. Fionulalalia, principal of primary school at the Rhodes Park School, encouraged the students to make further study in China and contribute to the friendship between China and Zambia. Dr Zhao Yiqiang and Mr. Guo guangwei, teachers from Confucius Institute at the University of Zambia, attended the opening ceremony.

After the opening ceremony, Mr. Guo Guangwei the teacher gave a lecture about listening, reading and so on according to the characteristics of the YCT test. This program received a warm welcome from all the candidates. They all agreed that the training would get them more familiar with the test and enhance their self-confidence for it, too.

In Zambia, Chinese language teaching in primary and secondary schools was conducted by Confucius Institute at the University of Zambia from this January. Many teaching locations have opened Chinese Classes, such as Lusaka International School, the American school, the Turkish school, SOS Children's village and so on. Nowadays, primary and secondary schools in Zambia are very enthusiastic to learn Chinese language. More schools and training institutions are planning to start Chinese courses cooperating with Confucius Institute. It is believed that the number of candidates for the YCT and HSK tests will increase fast and the identities and grades of them will be various.
