On May 2nd, 2012, Minister Counsellor Shen Yang from the Chinese Embassy-education section visited London South Bank University and the Confucius Institute for Traditional Chinese Medicine.

Professor Earwicker, the Vice Chancellor of LSBU, gave a sincere welcome to Chinese Embassy for its support to CITCM and the cooperation with China. He stated that LSBU will further increase the intensity of the mutually beneficial cooperation with China and CITCM, hoping to be supported continuously by the Education Section of Chinese Embassy in UK.

Mr. Shen showed his thanks to the great help and care of LSBU to almost 500 Chinese overseas students and scholars, and expressed his appreciation to the School and Professor Earwicker for their effort in China education cooperation and exchange programmes. He said, Chinese Embassy in UK will support the development and construction of CITCM, hoping to get strong support from the school to promote British students study abroad and provide academic proofs to Chinese overseas graduates.
 
Accompanied by Liu Min, Mr. Shen visited CITCM and its new site building, witnessing the development process of CITCM in the past five years and the planning for its future development. CITCM has set up traditional Chinese medicine courses, Chinese teaching courses and HSK test, undertaken the Confucius Classroom and Chinese culture workshops, held Spring Festival Roadshow and Chinese Health Week, intensively combining language study, career skills training and cultural experiences, scored its high achievement and distinctive features, those results proved to be remarkable and refreshing. Mr Shen thanks for the hard work and selfless dedication of the faculty of CITCM, congratulated the achievements they have made, hoping that they could made persistent efforts to build CITCM as the World's Top Confucius Institute, stating that Education Section of Chinese Embassy in UK will give care and support constantly to CITCM for its development.

Qiao Fenghe, Wang Huanxian, the First Secretary, and Zhu Li, the Second Secretary accompanied with Mr Shen for this visit.
