On May 8th, 2012, Confucius Institute at the University of Malta held an interesting and creative lecture about Chinese traditional painting. The lecture was divided into two parts, initially, the Chinese teacher introduced history and unique aesthetic and artistic value of traditional Chinese painting. The students were very interested about this artistic form which is entirely different from Western oil painting; they actively raised questions and interacted with Chinese teacher. The second part of lecture is live painting "Lotus Pond" provided by a Chinese student; her fresh and elegant work pushed the lecture to another climax. The students were all deeply enchanted in the romantic charm and artistic conception of traditional Chinese painting, they were willing to have more chances to know and experience it in the future. This lecture not only provided the university students a brand new aesthetic experience from artistic perspective, but also let them feel the distinctive charm of Chinese culture which would promote their enthusiasm towards Chinese study.
