29 th of May, 2012, awarding ceremony of the Chinese characters handing writing contest organized by the Confucius Institute at Tallinn University was held in Tallinn university. The Chairman of CITU baord of directors, vicepresident of Tallinn University, Prof. Priit Reiska made a speech and presented the award to winners in the ceremony. In his speech, he made a brief review of the cultural activities organized by CITU, expressed his joy and satisfaction on the enlarging number of Chinese language learners and showed his congratulations to the winners. After the awarding, students presenting the ceremony guessed riddles and gave short but wonderful performances, including violin, dancing and singing.

The contest was divided into two groups, that's university students group and elementary and middle school students group. The univeristy students copied the The Orchid Pavilion, while the middle shool students copied Three character Scripture. Totally 40 university students and 90 elementary and middle school students presented their works. Carefully selected by the teachers of CITU, Riin Rohtla from Tallinn University, Adelheid Pai from the Mustamae middle school won the first prize for eahc group. Besides, Sulev Leoste, Grete Heinsoo etc won the second and third prize respectively. Through the contest, the students got to know more about the components of Chinese characters, writing rules and writing skills. Meanwhile, their understanding towards Chinese culture has been deepened.
