Amman TAG-Confucius Institute Received the Award of Excellence in Education from King Hussein Foundation2012-6-11 17:22:00 From: http://english.hanban.org
On April 12th, 2012, Amman TAG-Confucius Institute participated in the "World Cultural Day" held by the Amman Jubilee School. Also in the event were other cultural institutions such as the German Goethe Institute and Cultural Offices of the Russian Embassy, the Romanian Embassy, and the Turkish Embassy in Jordan. Amman Jubilee School is an elite school launched and managed by the King Hussein Foundation. Its students are selected every year from local schools among their top students, and targeted as the future national leadership in Politics, Economy and Culture, etc. Besides the regular national curriculum, the school also provides specialized international learning modules. The school holds a cultural day for its students every year, in order to familiarize their students with different world cultures. The Chinese and foreign directors of the TAG-Confucius Institute, together with Chinese teachers went to the school for the event, and arranged a large Chinese culture exhibition area, showing documentaries about Chinese cultures, Chinese tea ceremony, Chinese calligraphy and paper cutting, and traditional Chinese costumes. The students were exhilarated and greatly impressed by getting such a close look at Chinese cultures. They lingered around the exhibition area, asking the Chinese teachers about Chinese language and cultures, learning Chinese calligraphy and paper cutting, tasting Chinese tea, and trying on the traditional Chinese costumes. At the festival, the representative from the Ministry of Culture presented the Award of "Excellence in Education" to the cultural institutions participating in the event. The Directors of the TAG-Confucius Institute said it was the second year that TAG-Confucius Institute participated in the event and it was an honor to be invited for such an occasion to introduce Chinese language and cultures to the school teachers and students. The Institute will stick to the Confucius Institutes" purpose of enhancing people"s knowledge of Chinese language and culture, developing friendly relationship between China and other countries, helping develop the multi-variant world cultures and construct a harmonious world, and contribute to the further development of cultural exchanges between the People"s Republic of China and the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan.
