During May 25 to June 5, 2012, a Malagasy delegation consisting of 7 mandarin-program directors visited Jiangxi and Beijing. In Jiangxi, the delegation met with Prof. Zhang Yanguo, Vice President of Jiangxi Normal University. The two parties exchanged views on wide areas such as campus design, school-running, faculty and discipline development. The delegation also convened a meeting with the Malagasy students studying in Jiangxi to learn about their study and living in the University. A trip to Mt. Longhushan, a Taoism origin in China, and Jingdezhen, a renowned Chinese porcelain city, helped the delegation to experience Chinese Taoism and ceramics cultures. In Beijing, the delegation visited the long-awaited Confucius Institute Headquarters, the Palace Museum, the Great Wall, the Summer Palace and some 2008 Beijing Olympics venues. During the visit, the delegation appreciated the long history and splendid Chinese culture, and witnessed the achievements China has made during its reform and opening policy and modernization process. The China visit helps the Malagasy mandarin-program directors realize the urgency of promoting mandarin in Madagascar and inspires them to make a more explicit strategy on mandarin promotion. "Learning mandarin may change the life of ordinary Malagasy and promote the economic and cultural exchanges between Madagascar and China", said RANARIVONY Richard, Dean of the Faculty of Letter and Human Sciences at University of Antananarivo.
