June 11, a graduation ceremony for the first basic Chinese Language Class was held at LIBES (Livingstone Institute of Business and Engineering Studies), Livingstone, Zambia. Chinese teacher, Chen Ying, Training and Consultancy Manager (TCM), Mr. Mwale as well as 18 students attended the ceremony. LIBES is one of the most important colleges in South Province, Zambia, also the first Chinese teaching location of Confucius Institute at UNZA. The first basic Chinese Language Class in LIBES was launched at the end of January. After more than three month's hard work, students mastered Chinese Pinyin, conversational expressions and some simple Chinese characters and successfully passed the graduation test. At the ceremony, Mr. Mwale gave his congratulations on the 18 students' completion of their study and awarded their certificates. Meanwhile, Mr. Mwale made an excellent report on his visit to China, who just came back from China attending a workshop. He said that his tour and visit to China was fantastic. Beautiful natural scenery, charming and modern cities, brilliant and long history and the warm and hospitable Chinese people impressed him most. What's more, he stressed the importance of learning Chinese language in communication and cultural exchanges. Alsostudents benefited a lot from his speech.
