Recently, a Chinese volunteer teacher Yang Yuan who works for the Confucius Institute in University of Pittsburgh received a hundred thank-you letters from American elementary school teachers and students. As a CI teacher sent by Wuhan University, during the period in Valley School of Ligonier in Pennsylvania, Yang Yuan made many attempts and efforts to improve the quality of teaching.After investigating the surrounding area, she found there are seldom schools offering Chinese courses. In order to give an opportunity to the students to experience Chinese language and culture, Yuan contacted with those schools, and gave an Chinese culture show to them. In addition to Mongolia dance performance and Tai Chi, she also designed a series of cultural experience activities. All the teachers and students are very excited about the activities . The leaderships of these schools also highly praised the cultural activities, and showed a great interest to the Chinese program of Confucius Institute. " You let us know so much about China." As a leader of promoting Chinese language and culture in the area of Pennsylvania, Confucius Institute in University of Pittsburgh does not only emphasis on developing and prompting Chinese language teaching, but also value that of the Chinese culture. Since its establishment, it sent dozens of Chinese volunteer teachers.
