June 1st, 2012 - Sixty-seven guest Chinese language teachers selected and dispatched by Hanban, the eighth batch of its kind, arrived at Kathumandu, capital of Nepal and kicked off their 1-year long volunteer service.

Chinese Embassy in Nepal held a Welcome Ceremony and organized two-day pre-post training for the guest teachers. Political Counselor Wang Lixin, person-in-charge of the Cultural Office and Consular Office of the Embassy, Medin Lamichhane, representative of Nepalese universities, among other officials attended the training program. Ambassador Yang Houlan treated all volunteers with a banquet and encouraged them to dedicate and commit themselves to the great cause, making new contributions to China-Nepal friendship.

The volunteers come from 8 universities and colleges in Hebei Province and Henan Province and were dispatched after strict selection and training by Hanban/Confucius Institute Headquarters. For this point, they've gone to 65 host universities and started Chinese teaching work.

Up to now, Hanban/Confucius Institute Headquarters has sent altogether 300 volunteers to Nepal, teaching over 74,000 students. Apart from teaching Chinese, volunteers have held a wide array of colorful cultural events, which are highly received and spoken of by local educational facilities, teachers, students and parents as well as Chinese Embassy in Nepal.
