On July 16, Beijing Foreign Studies University (BFSU) launched a summer camp specialized in selecting qualified candidates for a program that aims at cultivating great minds equipped with excellent knowledge in foreign languages and cross-cultural communication. 126 campers from China's first-class universities such as Fudan University in Shanghai attended the opening ceremony on Monday. Those campers will spend the following week in a string of lectures, trainings and contents organized by BFSU and a total of 30 students will be recommended to join the three-year program according to their comprehensive performance in the camp. The program is a part of China's education reform. From 2011 to 2017, it plans to select 90 graduates who focus their college study on English, French international relations, international law, international economics and finance. BFSU will work with top U.S. and European universities to carry out the program. After three-year intensive study, the students are expected to become top talents with profound knowledge in China's national conditions and international outlook as well as strong abilities in foreign languages and cross-cultural communication. The first summer camp of this type was held in July, 2011 where 27 out of 124 campers were eventually accepted by the program. Total:1 Page: 1
