July 11th, 2012 - Founding members, teachers and students of the Confucius Institute for Business, London celebrated its fifth anniversary and Ms. Jing Wei, Deputy Director-General of Hanban, came to offer congratulations. The Confucius Institute for Business, London is the first-ever business Confucius Institute in the world. HSBC Group, British Petroleum, Swire Group, Deloitte & Touche LLP and Standard Chartered Bank initiated and participated in its establishment. The Confucius Institute was jointly built by London Schools of Economics and Political Science and Tsinghua University and received strong support from Hanban. Unveiled in October 2006, the Confucius Institute was officially kicked-off in 2007. The Confucius Institute for Business, London especially mainly targets at intermediate and senior managers of the business community in Britain and teachers and students of London School of Economics and Political Science, offering courses about Chinese language, culture, economics, law and other aspects of contemporary China. The teaching method of Confucius Institute for Business, London is truly unique and lives in Confucius' principle of "teaching students in accordance with their aptitude" which is: to change as time, place and people change and adopt the method of flexible teaching. High flexibility is employed to ensure smooth course teaching and best effects on real grounds. The annual meeting of advisory committee composed of multinationals was held in the leading-up to the celebration as a way to sum up experience, plan for the future and seek for greater excellence in the next five years.
