Chinese Cultural Experience delights Ernest Bevin College2012-7-31 14:56:00 From: http://english.hanban.org/
Twelve teachers and volunteers from London Confucius Institute for Traditional Chinese Medicine (CITCM) delivered wonderful Chinese cultural experience lessons to more than 50 students and teachers on 25th July, the third day of Ernest Bevin Transition Summer Camp. Ernest Bevin College, a boys' secondary school, offers Chinese lessons in cooperation with CITCM and was awarded Confucius Classroom Status in April this year. Ernest Bevin Transition Summer Camp opened this week to the newly-admitted Year 7 students. EBC invited CITCM to enrich the Summer Camp activities with lessons in fascinating Chinese language and culture, interesting Chinese dragon experience, unique Chinese calligraphy and captivating Chinese Martial Arts. At the end of the lessons, students said 'Thank you' in standard Mandarin to the CITCM team to express their appreciation. The teachers and students equally enjoyed the day of Chinese cultural experience. Some students showed off their calligraphy and the colourful Chinese dragon they had painted, others practised the martial arts moves they had just learned. Some EBC tutors also joined in the activities and wrote their names with a Chinese brush. Mr Neil McCarthy, the Program Leader from EBC thanked the CITCM team and said that the students had learned a lot about China and Chinese culture. He continued to say that EBC was honoured to be a Confucius Classroom under CITCM and hoped that CITCM would bring more Chinese cultural experiences to the college in the future. Total:1 Page: 1
