U.S. Eastern time on July 13, 2012, local 21 students and two chaperons began their summer camp to China at the Charlotte Douglas International airport. June 23rd, at the "Meet and Greet" meeting held by the Confucius Institute at Pfeiffer University for all campers, at the meeting Professor Weihong Yan had a detailed introductions of the camp programs, agendas, etc. and a Q & A was for parents and students in regard to their concerns and questions. 21 campers with two chaperons are from Gray Stone High School, Union County Public Schools, CMS, etc. They are very excited about the upcoming summer camp. Parents had a lot of concerns for their children, because this is the first time for their children leaving their homes so far, but they encouraged children that crossing the ocean could broaden their views and open their minds. At the airport, many parents greeted Professor Weihong Yan and expressed their appreciations for organizing and providing such a wonderful trip and opportunity for their children to visit China. The Chinese Bridge camp hosted by Hanban is from July 15th to July 30th, the over 1000 students in the country attended this trip, different group from different CIs have been distributed to different provinces in China, the CI Pfeiffer group was arranged to stay in Xi'an for ten days, in Xi'an, they learned Chinese language and cultural courses, visited the Terracotta Warriors and Qin Dynasty Museum. On 25th, the students returned Beijing till 29th, they visited Hutong, Lama Temple, Great Wall, the Forbidden City, Summer Palace, and Temple of Heaven, Confucius Headquarters and other historical places. This is the largest group for local high school students to visit China from Charlotte community organized by Pfeiffer University. China Bridge Summer Camp is an annual activity by the Confucius Institute at Pfeiffer University. Please follow up our website for the next year camp.
