CRI Online (Reporter: Yi Luxia): July 19th, 2012 - FAPP - Confucius Institute for Business, Sao Paulo, the fifth in Brazil, was officially inaugurated in the morning local time. Mdm. Xu Lin, Director-General of Hanban and Chief Executive of Confucius Institute Headquarters, Chinese Ambassador to Brazil Mr. Li Jinzhang, and director of FAPP - Confucius Institute for Business, Sao Paulo jointly unveiled the Confucius Institute and signed an agreement after visiting the classrooms.

According to Mdm. Xu Lin, at the moment, Brazil is home to five Confucius Institutes and two Confucius Classrooms in major cities in Brazil such as Sao Paulo, Rio de Janerio, Brasilia and Rio Grande do Sul. Among 25 Confucius Institutes in 12 countries in Iberia-America, five are in Brazil and developing on a fast track. Take Confucius Institute at University of Estadual Paulista as an example, the number of registered students has risen from less than 200 in 2009 when it was established to today's 1,313 and it's expected to reach 2,000 by the end of 2012.
