SINGAPORE, Aug. 25 (Xinhua) -- The Singapore Federation of Chinese Clan Associations (SFCCA) awarded scholarships to four students on Saturday to finance their undergraduate education at top Chinese Universities. The four recipients of the scholarships will pursue bachelor's degree in fields such as management, social sciences, international studies and archeology at Peking University and Tsinghua University, China's top two universities. Each of the student will receive up to 15,000 Singapore dollars (12,000 U.S. dollars) per year during their years of undergraduate education. This will be used to cover their expenses such as tuition fees, daily expenses and air tickets. Cheng Ying Han, one of the five recipients of the scholarships last year, has spent one year in China. He has been a volunteer to serve in the clan organizations during the summer vacation. Cheng said it has been fairly easy for him to adapt to the life in China and that he came to see and appreciate the differences in the perspectives of the Chinese and the Singaporeans. Chua Thian Poh, president of SFCCA, said the scholarships has been established in 2011 with the aim of fostering bilingual and bicultural talents.
