Singapore students get scholarships for China universities2012-9-11 16:20:00 From: http://www.csc.edu.cn
SINGAPORE: Four Singapore students have been granted scholarships from the Singapore Federation of Chinese Clan Associations (SFCCA) to study in China. The moves aim to give the students full financial compensation to pursue their undergraduate degrees in management, social science, international studies and archaeology at Peking University and Tsinghua University, the top two institutions in China. It also comes as Singapore's government has promoted education for its young population and urged students to look for opportunities to travel abroad before returning to the island country. According to a statement from SFCCA, "each of the student will receive up to 15,000 Singapore dollars (12,000 U.S. dollars) per year during their years of undergraduate education. ''This will be used to cover their expenses such as tuition fees, daily expenses and air tickets," the association added. Chua Thian Poh, president of SFCCA, said the scholarships "were established in 2011 with the aim of fostering bilingual and bi-cultural talents." He added that he "appreciated the volunteer services of the recipients of the scholarships last year. Total:1 Page: 1
