From August 2 to 6, all the teachers and volunteers of Confucius Institute at the University of Zambia went to the Agricultural and Commercial Show of Africa held in Zambia together to spread Chinese language and culture, which gained a very good social effect. Agricultural and Commercial Show of Africa are held in Zambia at the beginning of August every year. People from various countries and regions in Africa gather on the exhibition to recommend their merchandise. It is the greatest event with most people, most ambitious scene and most enthusiastic atmosphere. Cooperating with the University of Zambia, Confucius Institute furnished exhibition booth in advance: there were advertizing boards with pictures and language which were used to introduce China development achievements and folk culture behind the desks, red Chinese knots and Beijing opera masks hanging on both sidewalls, the exhibition desks were filled with Confucius Institute brochures, Chinese magazines and registration forms for Chinese class and martial arts class. After the starting of the show, teachers and volunteers of the Confucius Institute came to the exhibition booth very early every day. They treated visiting persons from different countries and different fields and introduced Confucius Institute projects and Chinese culture. Sometimes they went to other unit's booths to distribute brochures, introduce projects and answer questions. They also bestowed postcards with beautiful scenery in China, bookmarkets with ordinary Chinese, Confucius periodicals and China Today magazines. Despite fatigue, teachers and volunteers worked continuously for five days, they utilized this stage of the broadest range and the largest groups of population to spread Chinese language and Chinese culture, which made the public of Zambia and other countries know much more about Confucius Institute and promoted understanding and exchanges between China and other countries, especially between China and Zambia.
