On 17September, 2012, MrWANGHui,a successful Chinese architect was invited to give a speech"Contemporary Chinese architects---Sense and Sensibility"at the Confucius Institute @ Group T, International University College Leuven, Belgium. About 70 people from Leuven shared the architect's ideas and achievements. MrWANG borrowed the title of Jane Austen's novel Sense and Sensibility.He made comments upon his contemporary Chinese architects by reviewingtheir works, to explore the landscape of contemporary Chinese architecture. He made interpretations of Chinese architects'personality and mindset, how to meet their social role in the changing context of China and the world, seeking personalized design. MrWANGHui, one of the founders of URBANUS, studied and worked in the firms in the US as head of design. He gave lectures in the universitiesand institutions of China, the United States, Switzerland, Brazil, Singapore,and the United Kingdom, etc. The Belgian audience, not knowing too much about Chinese architecture, were pleased to have a glimpse of contemporary Chinese architects and their works, especially the Chinese culture elements embodied in the works.
