Overview
Changzhou University (CCZU) now boasts a student body of about 20,000, including over 1500 post graduates. It has a strong faculty engaging in teaching and scientific research. Among the 1000 full-time teachers, there are 160 professors and 340 associate professors, over 80% have masters or PhD degrees. As a public university set up in 1978, CCZU has become a leading multidisciplinary university with a particular focus on engineering, science and management.
Programs
Changzhou University offers 64 undergraduate programs covering 10 fields in agriculture, economics, education, engineering, fine arts, law, liberal arts, management, medicine, and science. It also offers doctoral programs in material science and master programs in chemistry, chemical engineering, computer science, environment engineering, management, material science, mechanical engineering, petroleum and natural gas engineering.
The university also sets up centers to develop students’ innovation and practical skills. Comprehensive Training Center and the Art and Science Innovation Center have effectively improved students’ abilities and skills.
Research
The university has won three second prizes for National Science and Technology Progress, and one second prize for National Technological Invention, both of which are top national science awards in China. By the end of 2012, CCZU has undertaken over 42 national science foundation projects and won over 60 provincial science awards. Its scientific funds have amounted to 150 million RMB (about 18.5 million Euros).
Changzhou has also established all-round cooperation with China’s major petrochemical companies, including Sinopec, Petrol China and China National Offshore Oil Corp, and with local enterprises and governments. The Joint R&D Center for Fine Chemicals of Legend Holdings-Changzhou University has furthered the cooperation between university and industry.
International exchange and cooperation
At Changzhou University we emphasize the internationalization of education. We have signed agreements for cooperative programs and research projects with over 20 renowned overseas institutions and enterprises, including institutions in Chile, Finland, Germany, Japan, Russia, Spain, Sweden, the UK, the US, etc.
Members of the academic staff have experience as visiting scholars in overseas universities. The University also cooperates extensively with foreign universities in scientific projects.
Students at Changzhou University have the opportunity to study abroad on short-term or long-term exchange programs. They can also enroll in cooperative programs with foreign universities, like the joint degree programs with St. Francis Xavier University in Canada and the National University of Ireland, Maynooth.

Changzhou University now receives exchange students and degree students from countries throughout Asia, Africa, North America, and Europe every year. Besides short-term and long-term training courses in Chinese language, the university provides bachelor’s degree courses in English in four areas, i.e., chemistry, economics and management, material science, and nursing.
