There has been much attention lately on how culture companies in China are adapting themselves to the market economy. But today we take a look at a kind of art group that is non lucrative. CCTV reporter Zhang Ni follows a music club at one of the most reputed university in China, Peking University. This is the first concert of Chinese Music Institute of Peking University after recruiting freshmen members this semester. For a nice performance on their first appearance, their intensive rehearsal started three weeks ago. This is Sun Yichao, a student in physics, also the president of Chinese Music Institute. When concerts draw near, his after-school life is fully charged: practicing, giving instructions to orchestra members, and organizing meetings with other leaders of the group. Sun Yichao, president of Chinese Music Institute of PKU, said, "I like physics, but I also love Chinese music. I find when your specialty differs from your personal interest; it gives a lot more opportunities to meet more people, to have more experience. I really appreciate the atmosphere in Peking University. It has a kind of intellectual Romanism on the campus. " Born in the 90s, these young minds believe that study is no longer the only thing to do in college. None of them are professional, and most of them come from science and technology schools. The school also tries its best to create opportunities for them and bring out more of their talent. Bi Minghui, conductor of Chinese Music Institute of PKU, said, "I myself, am a volunteer conductor of the club. I know these kids for several years and I'm really touched by their pureness and their love for music. I'm here to share my experience with them in music and also personal developments. " This summer, a concert of Chinese Music Institute with song on chemical elements has attracted a million clicks on the Internet, and makes it the most famous Chinese music student club in Peking University. Despite its popularity, it remains its nature for student amateurs and never refuses anyone who wants to join. Peking University has one of the richest campus cultures among Chinese Universities, with more than 250 student communities registered. At least 20 art communities practice regularly in groups. But what if there weren't enough classrooms for them to practice in? " The parking lot will do. Students have reached an agreement with the school to practice or teach amateurs underground if only under surveillance. Qiao Meng, member of Chinese Music Institute PKU, said, "It's soundproof, it has great dimensional sound effect, so why not? And we don't need to practice sitting down anyway. " Pure love of music is the main motive of these students. This experience would leave a precious memory and spiritual fortune after they graduated. Total:1 Page: 1
