A senior police officer said on Monday that they would search firearms and weapons concealed by recently-arrested members of a terror cell in forest areas around a noted state university here, local media reported. The search was following the police's finding on several fire arms that consisted of assault rifles, pistol and live bullets in the forest located in the University of Indonesia's (UI) premises. Those weapons belonged to accomplices of a terror cell arrested by the police on Saturday. All of those weapons were confiscated by the police at the moment. "We plan to undertake further search in the forest after the findings. Further investigation against those involved in the case is underway at the moment, including the possibilities of UI students involvement in the case," M Taufik, Public Information officer at the national police headquarters said. Police raided several places in Tangerang, Banten province, which are believed to be the hideouts of accomplices joining the Abu Omar terror cell on Saturday, the country's largest news portal detik.com reported. During the crack down, police arrested four accomplices, members of the terror cell, shot one of them as he tried to retaliate with an M 16 assault rifle. Police learned that the Abu Omar terror cell was a terror group that tried to set a bomb in Singapore embassy here. The terror cell leader Abu Omar was arrested in East Kalimantan three months ago. Police said that their weapons were supplied by a Muslim radical group in the south Philippines. Total:1 Page: 1
