The Beijing Autumn Auction of Artwork is underway, with Beijing Poly, Council and other auction houses all starting at the same time. Record sales are expected. Be ready for an ultimate feast of art. The auction houses are ready for hot autumn action. A wide selection of rare works are on offer. In the rare books and manuscripts division, there will be dedicated session for the collection of Ji Xianlin, a noted Chinese linguist and historian who passed away in 2009. Ding Ling, China Guardian Auctions said "Mr. Ji Xianlin had a very rich collection of rare books. He had already started collecting before he went to Germany to pursue his further study. This time, 165 of his collections will be on the block." In modern and contemporary calligraphy and painting, there's the 1931 Landscapes Album by late ace painter Qi Baishi, whose style has been described as impressionist. In 1994, the Landscapes Album fetched over 5 million yuan, or about 830,000 US dollars, a record for Qi's works. This time, the opening bid is set at 150 million yuan, or about 25 million dollars. Guo Tong, China Guardian Auctions said "One could hardly find art works of such a high quality, and this piece is really one of Mr. Qi Baishi's best. I'm not surprised that people are still so passionate about it!" Qi Baishi is one of China's most prestigious painters. He died in 1957 at the age of 93. The auction will be held from November 12th to 16th at the Beijing International Hotel. More than 4500 items are up for sale. Total:1 Page: 1
