The 3D short film Opera, which focuses on Peking Opera, premiered at the recent China (Beijing) International Student Animation Festival.

Produced by the Animation School of Communication University of China (CUC) and IT solutions giant HP's Center of Excellence, the movie took five months to complete. It is said to herald technological breakthroughs in 3D composition and editing.

The film, which depicts a pingshu (storytelling) performer's artistic exploration of Peking Opera, features several theatrical fight scenes enhanced by computer-generated 3D stereoscopic imaging.
