President Zheng Jichang led a delegation to visit the Philippines, Malaysia and Singapore2012-5-21 17:04:00 From: Zhejiang Shuren University
On April 21, 2012, headed by President Zheng Jichang and deputy president Zhang Qing, the school delegation of eight people visited universities in three Southeast Asian countries successfully. During the visits of the delegation to five universities including Nanyang Technological University, Singapore; Universiti Sains Malaysia, Malaysia; University of St. Thomas, the Philippines; Lyceum of the Philippines; and New England College, the Philippines, the delegation received warm receptions. Both sides held friendly talks on multiple levels so as to deepen mutual cooperation and promote mutual exchanges, with numerous agreements reached. During the visits, the school and the New England College (Philippines) signed a cooperation framework agreement on the consensus of school exchange of students and teachers training. The delegation and Universiti Sains Malaysia conducted in-depth discussions and reached a preliminary agreement on master's degree project and further doctorate. Invited by President Zheng, the vice president of Universiti Sains Malaysia, Dato ' Omar Osman, said that he was willing to come to visit Zhejiang Shuren University late this year for further bilateral talks. The delegation also reached cooperation intention with Nanyang Technological University on cadre management training, teacher training and student research. Nanyang Technological University has shown a positive attitude towards our proposed governmental cooperative training project, tea culture and Business Chinese courses. The visits promote the relations between our school and those in the Philippines, Malaysia and Singapore; enhance our friendship and the exchanges among universities; create a new situation for our internationalized education strategy focusing more on the new chance in Southeast Asia, which is regarded as a step forward to better international exchange and cooperation. As President Zheng Jichang concluded, the pioneering trip effectively fulfills the school's long-term development plan, accelerates the education internationalization and promotes our relations with Southeast Asian universities, which is thus viewed as ice-breaking. The visits also bring more access to open our school to Southeast Asian universities for more cooperation and exchange, form cooperative consensus on development, and help to start introducing our school to the Southeast Asian region, expand our influence to a larger extent.
