HONG KONG, July 4 (Xinhua) -- The First International Conference on School Guidance in the Chinese Communities opened in Hong Kong on Wednesday, attracting more than 700 academics and professionals. The conference is jointly organized by the Education Bureau of the Hong Kong government and the Hong Kong Baptist University, with the support of East China Normal University, Taiwan Normal University, Taichung University of Education and the University of Macao. Under the theme "Development of School Guidance: Past and Future", the three day meeting comprises nearly 120 talks and workshops covering a wide range of topics including curriculum guidance, assessment for guidance services, adventure-based guidance, caring school culture, peer counseling, mental wellness and more. More than 700 academics and professionals have enrolled to attend the conference, with over 300 coming from outside Hong Kong. The conference has also attracted the active participation of about 200 academics, professionals and front-line practitioners from various places to present papers, review literature and analyze school guidance practice and prospects from different angles. 8 The conference will be conducted biennially in other places after the first one held in Hong Kong.
