The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) will hold an undergraduate admissions talk in San Francisco on Sept. 26, 2012 at the Oakland Asian Cultural Center located at 388 Ninth Street Oakland to provide admissions and scholarships information as well as academic planning advice to US students. The seminar will be conducted in Cantonese and English. High school students, parents and college counselors are welcome to attend. The event will take place 5:30 C 6:30pm and will feature Mrs. Grace Chow, Director of Office of Admissions and Financial Aid. Founded in 1963, CUHK is a forward looking comprehensive research university renowned in the region. Most faculty members of the University have studied or taught in top universities around the world. They are well connected with universities, foundations and academic associations world-wide and have demonstrated excellence in both teaching and research. CUHK has over 20,000 undergraduate and postgraduate students, of whom 3,800 come from 45 countries and regions outside Hong Kong. "CUHK attaches great importance to having a broad student mix on our campus. The University has admitted many students of top merit from all over the world. Students here are given every opportunity to expand their horizon and enrich their experience, through interaction with students of different cultural backgrounds," said Chow. "We noticed in recent years that quite a number of US students and children of Hong Kong immigrants have shown an increasing interest in the rapid development of Greater China. We believe that choosing CUHK for undergraduate study will be a valuable opportunity for these students." CUHK offers more than 60 undergraduate programmes through eight faculties: Arts, Business Administration, Education, Engineering, Law, Medicine, Science and Social Science. The University adopts a flexible credit unit system which allows students, depending on their qualifications obtained before admission, to complete the required Alice Kaistian Zytek from USA, who is currently studying Global Economics and Finance at CUHK, said: "Finance has always been an area of interest to me and I wish to pursue a career in this profession. I believe that the future, in terms of economic growth, is in Asia. CUHK is now accepting applications for 2013 entry. The application deadline for the Advance Offer Round is November, 15 2012. Successful applicants will be notified by Dec. 30, 2012.
