The 30th Session of GU High-End Lecture on Humanities is given by Professor Wei Haiming, Vice President of Sun-Yat Sen University on November 29. The topic of his lecture is "Industry New Development Trend and Industry Reconstruction and Upgrading".

The lecture includes three parts. In the first part, Professor Wei advocates that the industry development in China has entered a new phrase. In the second part, he continues to discuss on some heated topics in international industry development. He also points out the path of Chinese industry reconstruction and upgrading in the last part.

According to Professor Wei, Chinese industry development is on the downward track judging by the industry growth rate and power generation volume, which will very likely influences the future employment. Therefore, college students must pay attention to the industry development trends and have a full understanding of the fluctuation of economic growth. In addition, Professor Wei elaborates on the industry development trends in USA, France, Germany and other developed countries, as well as Chinese opportunities and challenges in the international industry arena. Especially for the students who are now business majors and future business leaders, recognition and flexibility on industry change are a must. To illustrate this point, Professor Wei cites the Italian textile and garment industry for example and further explains the general paths for industry reconstruction and upgrading.
