International Students of BFSU-SolBridge Visits Tencent Beijing2013-5-17 16:23:00 From:
Some exchange students and MBA students of BFSU-SolBridge visited the Beijing headquarters of Tencent, a Chinese internet giant, on May 17. The company tour represents efforts to offer more opportunities for international students to get to know Chinese businesses and better prepare them to work in or with Chinese enterprises in the future. At 9:00 am, the students, led by the Dean of IBS, Dr. Niu Huayong and some faculty members, left the university by taking school bus for the Beijing headquarters of Tencent, which is located at Zhongguancun, just two miles from BFSU. At 9:30, they arrived and were warmly welcomed. First, they were led by a lady from Tencent to have a tour around the workplace. The students were amazed by the spacious, home-liked workplace, well-stocked pantry and fully-equipped fitness room. At 10:10, they came to a meeting room and Mr. Jing, a senior manager from the Strategy Development, delivered a presentation of Tencent to the students. Mr. Jing introduced Tencents history, products, strategies and globalisation plan. After the presentation is Q&A sector. Students from BFSU-SolBridge asked many in-depth questions, such as how Tencent will solve the problem of cultural barriers in global expansion, how Tencent make sure it goes in the right direction and how it recruit foreign staff. Mr. Jing answered the questions with figures and good logic. At the end of the meeting, Dr. Niu Huayong thanked Tencent for the company tour and said he hope Tencent can offer internship or job opportunities for students from BFSU-SolBridge. Tencent is one of the largest internet companies in China. Its best-known products are QQ, an MSN-like instant messaging software, and WeChat, a popular social mobile application with voice and text messaging, timeline, and several other social features.
