On April 10, Times Higher Education issued the finalist of 2013 top 100 Asia universities. Among the 15 universities from mainland China that are listed, WUT ranked 58th. (More detail at http://www.timeshighereducation.co.uk/world-university-rankings/2012-13/regional-ranking/region/asia) The Times Higher Education Asia University Rankings 2013 are based on the same criteria as the The World University Rankings. Among the five criteria, teaching accounts for 30%, research takes up 30%, citations 30%, industry income 2.5%, and international outlook 7.5%. According to the statistics from the 15 listed universities, the average score for teaching is 39.1, research 28.8, citations 45, industry income 69.6 and international outlook 29.8. WUT gets 11.3 for teaching, 7.9 for research, 68.2 for citations, 56 for industry income and 18.4 for international outlook. WUT gets 68.2 for citations, which is much higher than the average. This is resulted from WUT's global strategy for high level talents whose papers have received worldwide citations. Compared with the other 14 universities, WUT's scores for the other four criteria are relatively low. There is still a long way to go in reaching the aim of building a university with international prestige. We are inspired to forge ahead for greater achievements and for our mission of "building an excellent university that provides an excellent education to lead our students to a fulfilled life with wisdom and responsibility, winning worldwide recognition and admiration."
