Nov. 17th of this year is the 79th birthday of my grandmother. This age is very important in China because it means she will enter Mao Die time, an old Chinese notation whose age is greater than eighty. To celebrate this day, I planned to buy a jewellery for her. It was quite a coincidence that three colleagues invited me to visit a gold shop named Laofengxiang of Shanghai after chorus training yesterday. One of them three knew the manager of the shop so she can get a big price discount.
At the shop, they chose silver and platinum jewellery carefully and I just concerned gold products because people likes gold more than other noble metals in Chinese custom. Finally, the manager gave us a very large discount. The 18K platinum products could cut 55% price and the silver and jade even might be 60% off. As for gold, one gram golds price could be cut 20 yuan. I chose one ring in weight 7.5g which cost 1906 with the 263 unit price.
The ring I bought belonged to one couple rings originally. One was carved a Chinese LONG and another was a flying phenix(Chinese FENG). I separated it and bought only the phenix one under the help of the manager otherwise I couldnt do it according to the shop rule. When I gave it to my grandma last night, she was surprisingly happy and replaced the old ring. So, I felt happy also because of her happy feeling.
